Overview

Why sponsorship matters.

Organisations that want to employ overseas workers through the points-based system need a sponsor licence. Without one, they cannot assign Certificates of Sponsorship, which workers need to apply for a visa.

Holding a licence also brings duties. The Home Office can visit, audit and suspend licences, and employing someone without the right to work can lead to heavy civil penalties.
