Overview

What the student visa is for.

The Student visa is for people aged 16 or over who have an unconditional offer from a licensed student sponsor. Your university or college gives you a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which is the foundation of your application.

The most common problems are funds that were not held for long enough, missing documents listed on the CAS, and incorrect English language evidence. We check each of these with you before you apply.

FAQ

Student visa questions.

Cannot find your answer? Email replies@myimmigration.uk or message us on WhatsApp.

Can I use my parents’ bank account?

Yes, if you provide a letter of consent from your parents and proof of your relationship, such as a birth certificate. The money must meet the holding period rules.

How many hours can I work?

Usually up to 20 hours a week during term for degree-level study and 10 hours for courses below degree level. Your CAS and visa will confirm your limit.

My CAS has a mistake. What should I do?

Ask your university to correct it before you apply. We check CAS details with you at the start so mistakes are caught early.
