Overview

What the visitor visa is for.

The Standard Visitor visa covers most short trips to the UK. It is usually granted for up to six months, and longer-term visas of 2, 5 or 10 years are available for frequent visitors.

Decision makers look closely at why you are travelling, how you will pay for the trip, and whether you will return home afterwards. A well-organised application answers those questions clearly.

FAQ

Visitor visa questions.

Cannot find your answer? Email replies@myimmigration.uk or message us on WhatsApp.

How much money do I need to show?

There is no fixed amount. You need to show you can comfortably cover your travel, accommodation and daily costs without working. We help you present your funds and explain any large deposits.

Can my family member in the UK sponsor my visit?

Yes. A family member or friend can invite you and offer to cover some costs. They should provide an invitation letter and evidence of their own status and finances.

I was refused before. Can I apply again?

Usually yes. Where the refusal was straightforward, for example because of missing or unclear evidence, we go through the refusal letter with you and help you prepare a stronger fresh application. If the refusal involved deception, credibility or a difficult immigration history, we refer you to a suitably qualified higher-level adviser.
